Durban Arts projects manager and music co-ordinator Patrick Zungu opened the proceedings as part of Durban Arts' aim of promoting art and culture in schools.

Since the Durban Arts Open Forum community schools are approaching the association for any kind of support - not only for finance but for encouragement in their cultural activities.

Guest speaker was Khetho Mathonsi of the Playhouse Company's development department who urged children to preserve their traditional art and culture and then joined them in songs which convey messages within families, friends and communities.
