DEE'S N BEE'S

Dave Burch and Bernie Davenport both emigrated from Britain to South Africa independently 26 years ago. Friends for many years, they only decided to work together about three years ago and now offer The Best of British for pub nights, old age homes, corporate functions, sports clubs, singalongs and cabarets.

Their performing title, Dee's n Bee's, is made up from their initials (DB and BD, get it?) and they specialise in English comedy routines and one-liners from top British comedians such as Rowan Atkinson, John Cleese and the late Tommy Cooper.

Dave and Bernie both belong to the Durban Symphonic choir and Dave also performs with the KZN Chorale.

Bookings are now open for Christmas functions. Phone 21-0500 for details.

GARETH WINS

At the tender age of six, Gareth Bargate has become the only Durban youngster - and one of the few in KZN - to win the Santam 1996 International Child Art Competition held last month.

Gareth is a pupil at Marist Brothers and attends art classes with Gerda Mellows at the Durban Child Art Centre in Leighton Crescent.

"We haven't even seen his painting yet," says his proud mother, Karen Bargate, "because it's gone overseas with the competition. Hopefully we'll see it when it comes back!"

Keep the Durban flag flying, Gareth!
