ICELAND MAGIC
People in KZN don't see much of snow and ice - except, of course, when we had those freak weather
conditions a month or so back! But you can revel in ice sculpture at the Iceland exhibition which
runs until the New Year.
D'ARTS team were able to watch the 15 Chinese sculptors from Harbin in China at work in the
prefabricated building next to The Workshop complex prior to the official opening and, although it was minus 18ø,
it was a fascinating sight.
Finished sculptures mingled with blocks of ice waiting to be turned into magical shapes. At one end
of the area, a struc-ture of branches was slowly being turned into a Cango Cave-type effect as water was poured over
the structure to freeze and create tiny stalactites.
At the time of going to press, we weren't able to see the final results but are pretty sure of ourselves
when we say that Iceland is a must!
Book at Computicket. Tickets are R18 (children under 12 R10).
