The annual NSA Members Exhibition is an event eagerly awaited by members of the Natal Society of Arts as well as by the general public. It is an opportunity to buy original artworks at reasonable prices. Well-known artists exhibit alongside amateur artists.
This year the theme set is Food, Glorious Food, and the gallery is expecting some unusual and exciting interpretations.
SENSUALITY
The title conjures up many images from feast-laden tables, to Oliver Twist. From art history images spring of Andy Warhol's soup cans, Carravagio's decadent Bacchus; marvellous sensuality expressed in films like Babettes Feast and, on a more humorous note, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The exhibition runs until February 10.
There will be a free walkabout of the exhibition to provide an opportunity for members of the public and the artists themselves to view the exhibition together with an informed critic.
The public is encouraged to participate in the discussion. Phone the NSA on 207-3676 to confirm the date and time.
