On February 6, the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg will host a talk on materials and techniques used by artists, given by Angela Zehnder, the Durban Art Gallery's painting conservator. She will discuss the anatomy of painting, including how to stretch a canvas easily, ground preparation and paints. Technical examination slides, including infra-red photography and x-radiographs, will be used from different historical periods.
