SANTAM has chosen the theme My Country for its 1996 international child art project. For the third time the project is open to schoolchildren elsewhere in the world as well as to those in South Africa.
This is an open theme which should inspire a wide range of creative response while remaining within the prescribed school syllabus. It is also a theme which is appropriate for world-wide adaptation.
IMAGINATION
Children are free to use their imagina- tion and can draw inspiration from any- thing to be found on land, in the sea or in the air.
All schools and art centres countrywide as well as elsewhere in the world are being invited to participate. Any artwork in any medium, whether pastel, paint, charcoal or crayon can be submitted.
The total prize money available locally is R50 000. Awards of R2 000 each will be made to the schools or art centre whose pupils achieve the best results.
Special group awards of R2 000 will also be made in each group to the schools or arts centres that submit the largest number of selected entries.
The closing date for local entries is May 31, 1996. For details contact Micky Anthony on (021) 480-4111.
