The Playhouse Dance Company's Attitude season in the Playhouse Drama from February 27 to March 10 is described as "a season of dancers as choreographers, a season of dance in collaboration with other art forms."
Dancers Andrew Gilder, Quinton Ribbonaar, Elaine Fletcher, Shion Unser and Ebrahim Medell have all choreo- graphed works. Rene Olivier and Mary- Ann de Wet are choreographing for the first time.
DEVELOPMENT
In addition Izaak Coetzee, Gerard Samuel, who is dance co-ordinator in the Playhouse Company's education and development department, and Mark Hawkins, the company's artistic director, will also stage new works.
Dance director Lynn Maree has invited the choreographers to present proposals for working with artists from other art forms. "The outcome will be new choreography, new design and new music", according to the publicity. Among the collaborating artists will be a group of new and on the brink of stardom young designers. New music compositions, created especially for dance, will feast the ear.
MELTING
"And into the melting pot will be added an extraordinary collection of props - trampolines, hair dryers, lamps, bubbles, scaffolding elasticated tennis net, mannequins, reeds and tutus".
