EDITORIALWelcome to the first issue of 1997 which, as you will see, is crammed full of news and events. Not bad for February. There are also three pages of Durban Arts news, one of them featuring what our co-ordinators are doing in the townships. Watch this space because the programmes for the year are just beginning to get underway. Also, please take note of the story on page 3 regarding our `mass write-in' to back-up the appeal to Metro Council to continue supporting Durban Arts. Your letters to us regarding the value of D'ARTS would be gratefully appreciated and add much fuel to the `appeal fire'. And if you think D'ARTS has a value for tourists, then let us have your views as well! The unprecedented sell-out of tickets for the Bolshoi Ballet within hours of the booking office opening proves that Durbanites WILL go and see something if they really want to - and top ticket prices don't put them off! As always, we thank our advertisers for their support in the past, particularly through difficult financial times. Please support them in turn.
